Many of you know that I’m not a fan of cable news as a format in general. So much hype is required to keep people tuned in for the 24/7 format, viewers usually come away with more misinformation and hype than actual information. That said, there’s nothing quite like the power of live television when it comes to those rare moments where someone simply needs to be put out of their misery.

That happened tonight when CNN host Anderson Cooper invited former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich onto his show. As we all know, Donald Trump commuted the prison sentence of Blagojevich for no good reason earlier this week. Fresh out of prison, Blagojevich wanted to make the argument that he’s now in favor of criminal justice reform. The trouble: Blagojevich is pretending that he’s a victim of the system, when we’ve all heard the recordings that prove his guilt. At the end of the segment, Cooper took at blowtorch to him:

It was almost worth Rod Blagojevich getting out of prison early, just to watch him squirm when Anderson Cooper called him out on his “bullshit” to his face.
