At this point everyone working for the Trump 2020 campaign appears to have given up any hope of getting a sinking Donald Trump reelected, and is instead just looking to keep Trump sated enough that he doesn’t fire them before election day, so they can keep getting paid all the way to the end of the campaign.

The trouble is, different factions within Donald Trump’s orbit are now eating each other alive in the hope of being the ones to get the campaign paychecks from now to election day. Right now Trump’s top campaign person is Brad Parscale, and with Trump way behind in the polls, it makes him vulnerable. Now others within Trump’s orbit are making a full court press to get rid of him.

Some unnamed folks in Donald Trump’s circle have told the New York Post that they’re in the process of convincing Trump to fire Parscale. Two things stand out here. First, while the article doesn’t say who the sources are, it just happens to go on to mention Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie – the same two guys who get mentioned every time the subject of Parscale getting fired comes up. Second, they planted this story in the Post, a pro-Trump publication that probably gets read aloud to Trump by his handlers each day, so they’re sending him a message.

Donald Trump is more tepid, erratic, and confused than ever. So it’s difficult to predict whether he’ll actually fire Brad Parscale. Trump is clinically incapable of accepting responsibility for the fact that he’s this far behind in the polls – so he’ll have to scapegoat someone sooner or later. Considering what a terrible job Parscale is doing, we almost hope Trump keeps him around so he can keep screwing up longer. But Lewandowski and Bossie would probably screw up just as badly.
