Bill Barr swings and misses yet again
Bill Barr is on television right now, basically admitting that he’s going to use his position as Attorney General to try to help Donald Trump in the election. That’s appalling, criminal, disgusting. It’s also not necessarily something to be scared of, because Barr isn’t very good at this.
We’re all supposed to believe that Bill Barr is some kind of evil genius who can wave a magic wand and pull off any corrupt thing that Donald Trump wants. But let’s look at the facts. Barr is fresh off his failure to get the Michael Flynn case thrown out, failure to install his own guy at SNDY, failure to keep Michael Cohen locked up, and failure to keep Steve Bannon from being arrested.
When’s the last time any of Barr’s corrupt schemes managed to work for him? You arguably have to go all the way back to his initial defeat of Robert Mueller. But with what we’re learning about how Rod Rosenstein deceitfully sabotaged Mueller from within before Barr even got there, Barr’s “defeat” of Mueller is starting to read like a myth.
So why do we let this guy paralyze us with fear? Yes, Bill Barr is a corrupt and deranged freak. Yes, he’ll try to steer the election in Donald Trump’s direction. But trying isn’t the same thing as succeeding. Barr keeps showing us that he’s a middling bumbler who strikes out most of the time, even when he cheats. Instead of worrying about his simplistic antics, let’s focus on voter registration, phone banking, and campaign volunteering.
