Donald Trump insisted, in all caps, multiple times, that “ALL HELL” was going to break loose during his criminal trial. He was clearly hoping to goad his supporters into showing up at the courthouse en masse and doing something stupid and/or illegal to try to disrupt the trial.

But as the trial got underway, it was clear that no such thing was happening. The number of pro-Trump protesters outside the courthouse each day was small enough to count on each hand. Now, today, it’s small enough to count on one finger.

That’s right, only one pro-Trump protester reportedly showed up outside the courthouse today. Trump’s support at the courthouse was anemic to begin with, and now it’s dwindled down to just one die hard. In other words, Trump’s base is as tired as he is.

Trump keeps insisting on social media that a huge number of his supporters are showing up at the courthouse, but they’re being forced to protest a few blocks away. This is absolutely not the case, or somebody would have spotted these mythical protesters by now.

So it sounds like Trump’s babysitters have falsely told him that his throngs of supporters are a few blocks away, in order to explain away why he can’t see any supporters when he’s going in and out of the courthouse. As always these days, Trump’s people don’t seem to be trying to save him, they just seem to be trying to avoid hurting his feelings on his way down.
