What is this insane nonsense about Sarah Huckabee Sanders now?
Sarah Huckabee Sanders was a disaster as Donald Trump’s White House Press Secretary, and now she’s an even worse disaster as the Governor of Arkansas. While most of Trump’s other inept underlings have fallen by the wayside, Sanders managed to fail upward. Now there’s buzz that she may be about to do again.
One of Trump’s other former underlings is now suggesting that Trump will pick Sarah Huckabee Sanders as his 2024 running mate. If this sounds like a punchline, it is. But it’s the kind of punchline that right wingers actually go for. Sanders is a right wing evangelical whack job, which checks certain boxes on the Republican side. She’s also a woman who fully goes along with the patriarchy, which also plays well on the Republican side.
Of course Sarah Huckabee Sanders is currently embroiled in a “Lecterngate” corruption scandal that’s so ugly, it may end up taking down her governorship, and could potentially even result in criminal prosecution. That would normally disqualify someone from consideration for a presidential ticket. But given that Trump is currently under criminal indictment and out on bail, why wouldn’t he pick a fellow criminal?
It’s important to keep in mind that this former Trump aide isn’t claiming to have inside information about whom Trump will pick, and is instead merely making an educated guess that it might be Sarah Huckabee Sanders. But nothing would be surprising. Trump isn’t a real candidate and is only “running” to distract from the fact that he’s going to prison, so you can expect his fake running mate for his fake campaign to be a total joke accordingly.
