Shape-shifters are pretty popular in today’s literature. A shape-shifter is one who “seems able to change their identity at will, especially a mythical figure that can assume different forms as of animals.” Shape-shifting sharks are quite a thing, as well as other sea beings. Of course, these works are fiction. But it does appear in the halls of D.C. we may have a genuine shape-shifter.

You know this mythical being. He’s not an exciting figure. In fact, he is very bland. He DOES have the ability to change like the wind, however. His name is Kevin McCarthy. And the term “Shape Shifter,” as it relates to Kevin, did not come from me. According to the Wall Street Journal, it came from Republicans who lovingly refer to the wanna-be Speaker as a “jovial shape-shifter.” This was not meant as a compliment.

We have been saying for a long time now that Kevin is not well-liked and will never be Speaker. Apparently, some in the GOP are starting to agree, Rep. Anthony Sabatini is a member of the Florida House of representatives. And he referred to McCarthy as a “scumbag.” Sabatini also accused him of supporting “RINOS.”

High-haired Congressman Matt Gaetz said, “Kevin is not bridled by too many policy views. His organizing principle is ambition.” McCarthy is also being accused by some in the GOP of funding candidates he can control and going all-in on Maga so he can court the alt-right part of the crumbling party.

And so it begins — the undoing of Kevin McCarthy. It had to happen. When one goes all in to try to appease everyone, one winds up appeasing nobody.

This is McCarthy’s final swan song. The man described by his own party as a shameless shape-shifter is now shifting with the wind in a last desperate effort to make his party love him. It would be amusing if it were not so totally and completely pathetic.
