Mo Brooks hits the panic button

When Rolling Stone named several House Republicans who allegedly coordinated in advance with January 6th organizers, either directly or through their congressional staffs, Palmer Report urged everyone to keep an eye on their responses. For instance, Lauren Boebert issued a statement that sounded like it was written by a bargain basement lawyer, suggesting she’s hired one. Then there’s Mo Brooks, who did something far dumber.

Here’s an actual quote from Mo Brooks, per CNN: “I don’t know if my staff did … but if they did I’d be proud of them for helping to put together a rally lawful under the First Amendment at the ellipse to protest voter fraud & election theft.”

Wait a minute, what is Mo Brooks even trying to do here? If he thinks he’s helping out his staffers by saying this, he’s not. By pushing his staff out front and acknowledging the possibility that they did coordinate with January 6th organizers, Brooks just put a big bullseye on his staffers in the eyes of the January 6th Committee and the Department of Justice.

Moreover, once these staffers start feeling the heat, some of them may end up flipping on Brooks. So Brooks just screwed his staffers and himself. It’s clear that he’s panicking. Then again, he’s also an idiot.
