President Joe Biden will restore honor to the Presidential Medal of Freedom

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the nation’s highest civilian honor. Originally established by President Truman in 1945 as the Medal of Freedom to recognize notable service by civilian citizens during World War II, it was revised and re-established by President John F. Kennedy in 1963 to include a larger class of persons who have made exceptional contributions to our country.

Recently the outgoing “President” has made a mockery of the Medal, bestowing it on sycophants and loyalists who some would argue were active co-conspirators in his multiple acts of obstruction. But, like a lot of things, this will change on Wednesday when President-elect Biden takes office.

Who he will select for this honor is not yet known. I’d think many Americans would agree that people like Stacy Abrams and Lt. Col. Vindman should surely be under serious consideration. But, regardless of who he will select, there’s one thing we can all be assured of: President Biden will restore the dignity and honor to this medal which like our country, has taken a devastating blow while under the control of Donald Trump.
