General Colin Powell has been voting Democrat some time now, but he’s still considered himself a Republican – until today. Powell appeared on CNN today and said “I no longer consider myself a Republican,” marking the end of his decades-long association with the party.

This is notable because, until today, General Powell had always stated that he remained a registered Republican in the hope of nudging the party back on track, or as he once sarcastically put it, “to annoy them.” But Donald Trump incited a terrorist attack on the U.S. Capitol, and too few Republicans have called for his ouster over it, so Powell clearly feels compelled to draw the line.
