When Donald Trump got a question he didn’t like today from CBS correspondent Paula Reid, and he couldn’t figure out how to dodge her question, he walked out on his own press conference just to avoid having to answer it. In the process, Trump gave something away.

Two weeks ago, Trump walked out of his own press conference because he didn’t like a question he received from CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins. Before that, he walked out of a press conference because he didn’t like what Collins and CBS correspondent Weijia Jiang had to say.

The pattern here couldn’t be much more clear. Whenever Donald Trump is challenged by a female reporter who isn’t willing to back down, he gives up and storms off. He’s so afraid of strong women, he’d rather walk out and risk looking like a weak coward than have to take what they’re dishing out. Sexist pigs like Trump always fear strong women more than anything else.

But there’s something new going on here lately. Donald Trump has always interacted poorly with strong female reporters. But he used to relish taking them on. In the past he’s gleefully hurled deranged insults at correspondents like Yamiche Alcindor and April Ryan because he didn’t like their questions. But these days Trump doesn’t even want the confrontation. He just walks off. He’s slipping to the point that he doesn’t even feel confident in his ability to be a bully anymore.
