Washington DC Mayor sticks it to Donald Trump

Donald Trump has been unable to convince any governors to let him send in the U.S. military to harass protesters. But because Washington DC has no governor to stand in the way, Trump has turned the district into a dystopian hellscape, complete with unidentified enforcers in uniform, even as Trump builds an ever-expanding fence around the White House.

Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is pursuing legal avenues for getting National Guard troops kicked out of the city and sent back to their home states. In the meantime, she’s taking a more direct route for getting the message across. Last night she had a crew paint the words “BLACK LIVES MATTER” in giant letters on the street outside the White House. Today the Washington Post says the Mayor has also renamed a street leading to the White House as “Black Lives Matter Plaza.”

Mayor Bowser is clearly not intimidated by Donald Trump, and she has no intention of backing down. She tweeted this aerial footage of the “BLACK LIVES MATTER” mural:
