What happened to Rand Paul?

Fifteen days ago, Senator Rand Paul announced that he had tested positive for coronavirus. It set off a lot of controversy at the time, because he hit the Senate gym and swimming pool while he was awaiting his test results, forcing multiple other Senators to quarantine themselves. Here’s the thing.

Based on everything that scientists think they know about coronavirus, fifteen days is enough time for Rand Paul to have either fully recovered, or gotten very ill. By now, he should realistically be at one end of the spectrum or the other. I don’t want to speculate about which end he ended up landing on, but here’s the thing: shouldn’t the public have a right to know?

Rand Paul’s official Twitter account hasn’t posted anything since April 3rd, when he generically attacked socialism. Shouldn’t he have at some point made an announcement about his medical situation? This guy didn’t think his fellow Senators deserved to know that he was awaiting the results of a coronavirus test, and now he apparently doesn’t think the public deserves to know how his coronavirus infection played out. We wish him the best, but we deserve to know what’s going on.
