Thanks to a quirk in the calendar, the NFL football Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles were scheduled to visit the White House today while the NBA basketball championship series is playing out. After Donald Trump learned that the vast majority of Eagles players were planning to boycott the visit, he disinvited the entire team. Naturally, this led to the stars of the NBA Finals being asked today about whether they’ll visit Trump’s White House if they win.

The first to face the question was Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James, during his press conference today. Here was his answer: “I know regardless of who wins this series, no one wants an invite anyway. It won’t be Golden State or Cleveland going.” That’s right, LeBron announced that neither he nor the opposing team has any intention of going anywhere near Donald Trump. So was he being presumptuous about the Golden State Warriors?

As it turns out, nope. Golden State star Steph Curry was asked about LeBron James’ remarks during his own press conference, and Curry replied “I agree with Bron.” These sentiments aren’t surprising. Curry and the Warriors won the NBA championship a year ago, and after he stated that his team was leaning toward boycotting Trump’s White House, Trump tried “disinviting” them for it. LeBron came to Curry’s defense on Twitter, calling Trump a “bum.” What is somewhat surprising is that they’re voicing their intentions during the championship series.

LeBron James and Steph Curry could each have dodged the question, by saying that it would be premature for them to talk about a championship visit to the White House before they’ve even won the championship. Instead, both NBA stars made a point of coming out in solidarity against Donald Trump and his racism, while they’re in the middle of a championship battle against each other. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who is white, also lashed out at Trump’s racism, accusing him of trying to “divide all of us in this country for political gain.”
