Considering that her batting average has continued to get worse over the past year when it comes to selling her lies to the American public, it’s a sign of Donald Trump’s true level of desperation that he sent her on national television this morning to push back against James Comey’s new book. Suffice it to say that it went even more poorly for Kellyanne than we were expecting, as she got herself tangled up so badly in her own logic that she ended up flat out admitting Trump didn’t legitimately win the election.

Kellyanne Conway appeared on several morning shows, and each time she tried to refute the notion that James Comey’s last minute letter about Hillary Clinton had any impact on the election. But when she got to ABC News, she got flustered and ended up saying this about Comey: “This guy swung an election.” It was a rare moment of truth from her, if only by accident. She quickly tried to walk it back on her Twitter account, insisting that she said the line sarcastically, even though there was no hint of sarcasm in her voice at the time.

So now what? Donald Trump posted one remarkably weak tweet about James Comey this morning, but he’s otherwise been silent on the day of Comey’s book release. Considering how rarely he sends Kellyanne Conway on television these days, you get the feeling that Trump has figured out she’s been slipping. Now that she’s totally blown it by admitting the one truth Trump has been desperately trying to refute, will we see her again any time soon?

Remarkably, Donald Trump himself has previously acknowledged in public that James Comey swung the election his way. During a White House gathering, Trump blew Comey a kiss from across the room, a fairly blatant way of thanking him for having tipped the scales against Hillary Clinton with his last-minute letter which falsely implied Clinton was under criminal investigation. The real story is that Trump is under criminal investigation.
