You’ve got to be kidding

Ever since Donald Trump returned to the White House, I wake up every day, wondering what horror has or will be unveiled. It is difficult to decide which horror is worse, but the blatant racism is staggering. I’m not sure whether they really think we are just that dumb or whether they are just that dumb. Rolling Stone quoted JD Vance from this past weekend. According to Vance, everyone involved with BLM should “celebrate President Donald Trump because he’s done more to save Black lives than any leader in our country.” Is Vance delusional? Perhaps he believes that if he continues to spew such nonsense, we will believe it. Let’s look at what Trump has done for Blacks, shall we?

One of the first things Trump did when he reentered the White House was dismantling DEI/affirmative action. He is punishing universities that refuse to demolish policies they have followed for decades. His incompetent Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth immediately began wiping the names of Blacks (and females) from the names of military, replacing them with the names of Confederate leaders. According to Hegseth “renaming bases after Civil War soldiers who fought for slavery is important for morale.” Whose morale, we might ask, as many veterans have publicly decried Hegseth’s reasoning. Democratic senators have questioned this move because they know what’s behind it: hate for those who don’t look like members of the Trump administration. When these people are not exercising their racist muscles, they are doing things that are incredibly cruel, with the help of Trump’s majority Republican Congress.

Robert Reich, former Secretary of Labor under President Obama, stays on top of Trump’s big ugly bill, which he recently called the big, bullshit bill. Reich knows a lot about government, as he also worked in two other presidential administrations. Reich listed what will happen if the Republican bill passes: $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts, 16 million Americans losing health care, electricity costs rising, manufacturing and constructions jobs threated, the largest ever cut in food assistance, $4 trillion increase in the deficit, and $1 trillion in tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires. Surely, Republicans know that trickle down doesn’t work by now. They are merely doing this because they want to and because they can.

Those who don’t go along with this plan are threatened with being “primaried” by Trump, which he has recently promised to do to Thom Tillis. Tillis has now announced that he’s not running in 2026, confirming himself as a coward. Tillis is not the only Republican who has come out against the bill. According to the Hill, Rand Paul voted “no” and 16 Republicans reached out to Majority Leader Thune and Mike Johnson to advise that they have serious misgivings about the bill due to the cuts in Medicaid. Trump had better get busy if he plans to primary all 17.

Trump continues to lie about the ramifications of this bill, but the people aren’t stupid. It is likely one of the most disliked proposed legislations in history. This is merely the proverbial tip of the iceberg of the ugliness and horror created by this administration.
