On Tuesday, Donald Trump finally decided to publicly and formally embrace the fact that he sides with Nazis and white supremacists over mainstream Americans – something anyone who has been paying close attention has known from the start. But during what might go down as the most horrifying speech in U.S. history, Trump also threw in a bizarre reference to how he owns one of the largest wineries in the country and that it’s located in Charlottesville.

As it turns out, Trump’s consistent penchant for nonstop lying is still fully intact. The winery in question isn’t close to being one of the biggest in the nation. Moreover, he doesn’t own it. Although it’s called Trump Winery, there’s a disclaimer right there on its website that says “Trump Winery is a registered trade name of Eric Trump Wine Manufacturing LLC, which is not owned, managed or affiliated with Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization or any of their affiliates” – as first spotted Mother Jones. This adds a new level of surreality to an already unbelievable development.

This means that not only did Trump feel the need to randomly promote his Charlottesville winery during a speech defending white supremacists, he lied about the size of the winery, and it’s not even his his winery. For that matter, as a sign of just how toxically unpopular and despised Donald Trump is, the winery that shares his name felt like it had to put up a disclaimer disavowing itself from him.

Meanwhile the nation is trying to figure out what to do with the fact that the person illegitimately occupying the office of President of the United States is an admitted Nazi sympathizer. And for its part, the people who run Trump Winery are probably wishing they hadn’t gotten out of bed this morning. It remains to be seen whether the winery will be boycotted simply because it’s owned by Trump’s son.
