Lisa Murkowski goes off the deep end
Signing away one’s soul can have serious consequences for the sanity of the person who does that. I think that is happening with Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. Murkowski has, until this week, been very successful at managing her political career. She is rarely caught making mistakes and she’s maintained an excellent reputation.
That all went to shit this week. I have no idea what’s going on with Murkowski — Or maybe–maybe I do Lisa Murkowski is leaving breadcrumbs. Breadcrumbs of guilt. You see I don’t believe Lisa Murkowski is conscienceless like most Republicans. I think she knows she screwed up and screwed up badly. As a result of this knowledge, her guilty conscience is singing her a swan song and that song is: finally you did it Lisa you screwed up.
Shortly after voting yes on the bill, Lisa Murkowski, who has assured that she is the face of the big ugly bill as she cast the deciding vote that enabled it to get to the finish line in the Senate, straggled out of there, looking like a zombie. When she was asked questions, she did not seem to know what to say.
She also bizarrely expressed her regret that this bill passed at all, which doesn’t make much sense since she’s the one who enabled it to pass. She then said the house needs to reject the bill and send it back to the Senate. Lisa Murkowski is not going mad. Lisa Murkowski is simply a person with a bit more self-analysis cogent within her than other members of of the GOP.
Lisa Murkowski, I would venture to guess, is being eaten up with guilt, and that would explain her bizarre behavior. When a reporter started asking her questions, there was a point where she paused for about a minute, and just stared at the reporter vacantly.
Alas, the dye has been cast, Lisa Murkowski’s career will never ever be the same. I’m not even sure at this point that she will get reelected when she’s up. What she did defies logic and reason, and I think she knows it, which would account for the dance of guilt she’s doing now.
