Donald Trump’s pathetic relief effort in the Puerto Rico crisis was one thing. His vicious racist attacks this weekend on Puerto Ricans were a whole other thing. It’s prompted mainstream Americans to go from angry to enraged. It’s also prompted “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is of Puerto Rican ethnicity to lay into Trump in stunningly straightforward fashion.

Trump tweeted “The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump.” In response, Lin-Manuel Miranda replied by tweeting “You’re going straight to hell, Donald Trump. No long lines for you. Someone will say, ‘Right this way, sir.’ They’ll clear a path.” Trump tweeted “Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help.” Miranda replied by repeating his message: “She has been working 24/7. You have been GOLFING. You’re going straight to hell. Fastest golf cart you ever took.”

Although Trump has around twelve times as many Twitter followers as Miranda has, in both instances, Miranda’s responses saw far more likes and retweets than Trump’s original tweets did. The battle continued. Trump served up this stunningly racist tweet: “[Puerto Ricans] want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort. 10,000 Federal workers now on Island doing a fantastic job.” Miranda replied: “Did you tweet this one from the first hole, 18th hole, or the club? Anyway, it’s a lie. You’re a congenital liar.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda then went on declare that Beyonce is his President, after she announced that she’s donating the proceeds from a new song to Puerto Rico relief. Miranda also posted some handy links where people can help out Puerto Rico in their own way: Hispanic FederationTidalWorld Central Kitchen
