Donald Trump is seemingly in a perpetual state of confusion. He can’t complete a coherent sentence. He blankly wanders away from joint press conferences while they’re still going on. He wanders away from his motorcade. He slurs his words. He can’t remember how to hold a water bottle with one hand. Although he’s always been psychologically compromised, he’s now facing worsening mental competence issues as well. Today, a confused Trump reminded us of just how much he’s regressed in the senility department.

Vanity Fair published a weird and juvenile video criticizing Hillary Clinton, and ended up backing down after facing severe backlash. This prompted Trump to get involved – by mistakenly attacking the wrong magazine. Trump tweeted “Vanity Fair, which looks like it is on its last legs, is bending over backwards in apologizing for the minor hit they took at Crooked H. Anna Wintour, who was all set to be Amb to Court of St James’s & a big fundraiser for CH, is beside herself in grief & begging for forgiveness!” The trouble: Anna Wintour is the editor of a different magazine, Vogue, and she only has tangential connections to Vanity Fair.

Here’s the truly odd part. Five years ago, Trump tweeted this: “I am happy to hear that Pres.Obama is considering giving Anna Wintour @voguemagazine an ambassadorship. She is a winner & really smart!”

So to recap: Just a few years ago Trump liked Anna Wintour, wanted her to be an Ambassador, and understood that she ran Vogue. Now Trump hates Anna Wintour, condemns her for wanting to be an Ambassador, and mistakenly thinks she runs Vanity Fair. It’s one thing for him to opportunistically flip his positions based on whatever is most convenient for him at any given moment. This, however, seems worse. He’s too confused to even know what he’s talking about. And he’s getting worse.
