If this is really how they want to play it…

Hi it's Bill Palmer. Support my renewed effort to stop Donald Trump. Donate $5 now.

The deed is done. Donald Trump and the Republicans have finally managed to ram through the most corrupt and evil piece of legislation in the history of Congress. So be it. We’ve known since election night that they were going to end up managing to pass one big piece of awful legislation to make the rich richer. It’s what happened the last time Trump and the Republicans were in control back in 2017. Now here we are, with history repeating for all of us because millions of morons didn’t learn their lesson in time for 2024.

But you know what? So be it. An extraordinarily unpopular Trump and an extraordinarily unpopular Republican Congress just stapled themselves to an extraordinarily unpopular piece of legislation that’ll only become more unpopular as people start trying to use government services that are suddenly no longer there. If Trump and Republicans wanted to lose the midterms as badly as possible, this is exactly what they would have done.

Here’s the thing. There’s already all this doomsday talk on social media about how there will simply be no midterms. But that’s not how anything works – at least not for now. Trump isn’t even close to having the muscle to just magically “cancel” the midterms and somehow still remain in power. And House and Senate Republicans know this, given how much hand wringing they did over this legislation before ultimately going along with it. They know that a number of them just lost their seats over this. The only question is how many.

That’s where we come in. This legislation, or a form of it, was always going to happen. But you know what? They just handed us the blueprint for winning the midterms – and winning decisively enough to keep the Republicans from being able to steal it. All we have to do is put in the work and win big next November, and then the Democrats can begin the process of putting back together what this legislation just broke. We have to see this through to the end. We owe it to ourselves, and to the people who just got screwed over the most.
