Down goes DOGE

Once Elon Musk quit the Trump administration in a huff, it probably always spelled the end for his DOGE agency. For one thing, the agency never really seemed to exist, beyond Trump announcing that something called “DOGE” was now in charge of every federal agency that Trump and Congress were supposed to be overseeing. But now it’s becoming more clear that DOGE is DOA.

DOGE has now lost control of a government grants website, which means that the government can go back to issuing grants to those out there who merit such grants. This is undeniably good news for those of us who like a functional society. It’s also notable that this time around, the courts didn’t pull the plug on DOGE’s control; the Trump regime did.

Apparently the Trump regime determined that DOGE was likely to lose the inevitable court battle over control of the grants side, and decided to simply pull the plug rather than fighting for it. In other words, all that Trump-Musk talk in 2024 of ridding “government waste” is over now. Then again, nobody really believed that Trump or Musk ever cared about government waste, did they? This was always about finding ways to line their own pockets.
