Donald Trump just made a completely moronic trade deal with Vietnam because he still doesn’t know what a tariff is
Like a lot of dementia patients, Donald Trump is inexplicably obsessed with one of the few big-sounding words he can still remember: tariffs. And like a lot of dementia patients, he has no clue what the word he’s obsessed with even means. Now Trump has cut a new trade deal, and according to his own words, he completely screwed up the deal because he still thinks the foreign country pays the tariff instead of the consumer buying the product.
Take a look at what Trump posted on social media today: “Vietnam will pay the United States a 20% Tariff on any and all goods sent into our Territory, and a 40% Tariff on any Transshipping. In return, Vietnam will do something that they have never done before, give the United States of America TOTAL ACCESS to their Markets for Trade. In other words, they will “OPEN THEIR MARKET TO THE UNITED STATES,” meaning that, we will be able to sell our product into Vietnam at ZERO Tariff.”
Now remind yourself that tariffs are paid by the individual purchasing the goods, and go back and read Trump’s announcement again. He just cut a deal with Vietnam in which U.S. consumers will pay a new 20% to 40% tariff on everything they buy that’s imported from Vietnam, and in return Vietnam will pay nothing.
When is the media going to admit that Donald Trump has extremely advanced end stage dementia? The guy is out there giving other countries trade deals that are set up backwards because he doesn’t have any idea what a “tariff” is. This is insane. Beyond insane. Trump belongs in an assisted living hospital.
