Donald Trump gives away that he thinks he’s going to prison

Donald Trump is more consistently and blatantly guilty of projection than perhaps anyone in this era. He claimed the election was being rigged against him, to deflect from the fact that he knew Russia was rigging it for him. After the public figured out he was on drugs, he demanded that Hillary Clinton take a drug test. Now Trump is signaling that he fears he’s going to end up in prison, because he’s projecting by demanding that everyone else go to prison.

Trump posted this bizarre and misspelled tweet this morning: “Crooked Hillary Clinton’s top aid, Huma Abedin, has been accused of disregarding basic security protocols. She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents. Remember sailors pictures on submarine? Jail! Deep State Justice Dept must finally act? Also on Comey & others.” As always, his mangled use of the English language makes it difficult to figure out precisely what he’s saying, but we’ll take a shot.

It sounds like Trump is calling for Hillary Clinton, her assistant Huma Abedin, former FBI Director James Comey, and other unnamed people to go to prison, for imaginary reasons he’s making up. This tweet constitutes felony obstruction of justice and felony witness intimidation, as Comey is a material witness in the existing obstruction of justice case against Trump. But the real upshot here is that Trump is truly rattled.

Donald Trump always falls back on falsely attacking Hillary Clinton and James Comey whenever he’s worried that he’s in trouble. By calling for them to go to prison, he’s giving away that he fears he’s going to prison. It’s also yet another reminder that Trump is a lawless criminal thug who will gleefully burn the American democracy to the ground if the Resistance doesn’t continue to fight his every move in 2018. At least now we know rattled he is.
