Trump and the GOP face their day of reckoning

If you’re at all like me, you’ve no doubt spent a lot of time this past year marveling at the GOP and their complicity – directly or indirectly – in this Trump-Russia conspiracy against the U.S. What I mean is, how is it possible they’re so blind as to not realize that 20, 30, 40 years from now their names will be written in books as some of the biggest traitors in U.S. history?

Fools like Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, et al who have enabled Donald Trump (and probably accepted illegal Russian campaign money) are not stupid people. Do they not know how history will view them? Perhaps they do not. But the smart money says they do and just figure “I’m so deep in this thing now I might as well just pretend it’s all gonna be ok and hope for the best.”

Others like Nunes and Rohrabacher have screwed up so badly they seemingly don’t even try to hide their guilt anymore. It has been startling viewing it in real time, like a horrible train wreck we can all see coming yet still can’t bring ourselves to look away from the inevitable carnage. After all is said and done, the names of these men and more will be written alongside the likes of Trump, Benedict Arnold, leaders of the Confederacy, and presidential assassins as “biggest traitors in U.S. history.”

Right now I can only hope as a Christian that my Schadenfreude is minimal when Robert Mueller is done dealing with them. But who am I kidding? I’m far from perfect, yet count myself among the blessed knowing I didn’t vote any of these traitors into office. Like so many of you I wait in earnest for them to be jailed so the country can begin healing. I hope I live long enough to see my predictions come true.
