Even as the House Intelligence Committee hearings on Trump-Russia got underway today, Donald Trump attempted to provide counter programming by live-tweeting the hearings. As is his custom, Trump made one false claim on Twitter after another. But MSNBC struck back by correcting Trump’s false tweets in real time even as FBI Director James Comey was testifying.

That testimony was damning. Comey publicly confirmed for the first time that the FBI is investigating Russia’s rigging of the 2016 election, and also investigating the role the Trump campaign played in that rigging. Comey said things like “They wanted to hurt our democracy, hurt her, help him” in reference to the Russian government, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. He also said that Russia had “clear preference” for Trump and that it was a fairly easy judgment.” Naturally, Trump had some contrasting things to say.

During the hearings Donald Trump falsely tweeted that “The NSA and FBI tell Congress that Russia did not influence electoral process” even though NSA Director Mike Rogers and FBI Director James Comey had just testified the opposite. That prompted MSNBC to shoot down Trump’s lie in real time:

If the media had been more willing to fact check Donald Trump’s lies during the election, perhaps he wouldn’t be in the White House right now. But it’s clear that the line has now been drawn. Remarkably, Trump used the official @POTUS account on Twitter today instead of his usual personal @realdonaldtrump account to lie about what Comey and Rogers had just said on live national television.
