Drake University is a private university in Des, Moines, Iowa. It is notable for its pharmacy program as well as its law school. As a private school Drake is not under the control of Iowa’s Branch Trumpvidian government.

Recently, Iowa Governor Kim “CovidKim” Reynolds, who is the 50th best governor in this country, sent a letter to the school after learning that the school was considering imposing capacity limits for the upcoming Iowa High School Track and Field Championship. It basically contained more of the same CovidKim bullshit she’s been spewing since almost day one of the pandemic. Namely that Iowans should be trusted to do the right thing and that people should have freedom to do what they want to see their kids no matter how many others they put at risk. She pointed out all the people who attended the Kentucky Derby in making her case.

Well, Drake University’s athletic director sent his response, namely that CovidKim should get lost. He noted how the capacity limits Drake’s planning are more percentage wise than a majority of MLB teams are allowing now, and was about the same percentage as what the Kentucky Derby allowed (and which officials are now concerned is a super spreader event).

CovidKim, you don’t have any business telling Drake how to do things when it comes to the pandemic. Drake is a private institution and not under Iowa Board of Regents control. Maybe if you, the Orange Florida Man you worship, and the rest of the GQP hadn’t done such a godawful job with the pandemic we’d be at the point where capacity limits could be set much higher or even at normal levels. But you all screwed this up to “own the libs” so you can go pound sand CovidKim.
