Josh Hawley has been making the rounds, promoting his book The Tyranny of Big Tech (Facebook’s oversight board just gave Hawley a huge gift with its timing on extending the former guy’s ban).

Hawley was recently on Fox News with Mark Levin, lying and ranting about how “the left” is in bed with Big Tech to squash free speech. “The left claims the First Amendment doesn’t apply to Big Tech.” Hawley is a Harvard grad, and knows that the First Amendment only applies to the government. In fact, Facebook has free speech rights under the First Amendment, to censor whoever for whatever it wants, without government interference. Hawley’s just playing dumb to his dumb base.

“We thought Big Tech would be the answer to free speech, but now look what they’re doing. Shutting down the Hunter Biden story, and shutting down our opinions [a/k/a lies]. As long as they censor the right and promote the left, it’s fine with democrats. The left is using this monopoly power to run over us.” He went on to laughably claim “the left” is attacking capitalism more than communist China.

“We need free, robust competition by taking power away from Big Tech,” said Hawley, falsely claiming the left is protecting Big Tech monopolies. He did not even say what the real problem is with taking down monopolies, and it’s probably not even in his book. Currently, the burden of proof is on the government to prove a monopoly is hurting competition, when it should be on the monopoly, to prove it isn’t.

If Hawley has burnt up too many brain cells to remember Harvard, he should read Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar’s book, “Antitrust,” on breaking up Big Tech monopolies. Hawley knows damn well the left wants monopolies broken up. The laws making it almost impossible were no doubt written by Republicans.

Hawley also lied that Big Tech tried to shut his book down in January. We all know that had nothing to do with Big Tech and everything to do with the insurrection and his attempts to “cancel” a free and fair election. Hawley’s own conduct caused Simon & Schuster to pull out of their deal in January.

He claimed Big Tech are globalists who want to be in charge of the world. Ok. But they don’t even want the responsibility of being an arbiter of truth. I would think being in charge of the world would be even more responsibility? He claimed they’re plotting it with the left because we’re all authoritarians, while the right are bastions of democracy! I’ll just leave you with that insane projection.
