“You are DEAD” – Donald Trump issues unhinged ultimatum, doesn’t appear to remember he issued the same ultimatum weeks ago
Weeks ago Donald Trump announced on social media that if Hamas didn’t release all of its hostages by that Saturday, “all hell is going to break out.” Hamas ignored Trump, and then Saturday came and went, and Trump did nothing. It was a masterclass in how to lose your negotiating credibility. Now Trump is… trying again?
After striking out last time, Trump is now issuing another ultimatum to Hamas. He posted this on social media on Wednesday: “Release all of the Hostages now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered, or it is OVER for you.” He added “you are DEAD” and demanded that they “RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW, OR THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY LATER!”
The thing is, Trump already tried this once. He gave a firm deadline, and Hamas laughed at him, so now he’s giving a less firm deadline? Does he really think Hamas is going to take his latest ultimatum seriously? Hamas can already see that he’s an empty gas bag.
Trump has always been the world’s worst negotiator. But this is something new even for him. It’s as if Trump issued his ultimatum last month and then forgot to follow through with whatever he was planning to do, and now he’s issuing another ultimatum because he has no memory of his previous ultimatum. There’s some serious cognitive loss here. And it’s clear that no one around Trump is picking up the cognitive slack.
