Where’s Trump?

Before we get to the topic of the day, I want to briefly say thank you for allowing me to take yesterday off. Also thank you to those who offered kind words and to those who donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in my dad’s name. I promised I’d be back to work today, and here we are. Fittingly, after my absence yesterday, today’s focus is about somebody else’s absence.
We all recall that Donald Trump’s babysitters tried to keep him out of public view as much as possible from 2021 to 2023, so the general public wouldn’t see how bad of physical and cognitive shape he was in. They had to start putting him out there some in 2024 so he could fake it as a political candidate. But even then, his appearances were lethargic and erratic and many of them were cancelled at the last minute.
Now that Trump is inexplicably back in office, his babysitters have made sure to put him out there every day or two with some kind of public appearance. Trump has come off as half dead and fully braindead during many of those appearances, but it’s not as if Trump’s babysitters can let the “President” of the United States vanish entirely. Except it appears they have.
By all accounts Trump hasn’t shown his face in public at all this week. He hasn’t been seen publicly at the White House. He hasn’t been seen publicly at any of his remaining properties. He’s not on some kind of international trip. He’s just nowhere.
It’s not normal for the President of the United States to simply vanish from public view for the better part of a week. Then again, there has never been anything normal about Donald Trump. He was a malignant sociopathic weirdo even before he succumbed to dementia. These days he’s a more exaggerated, yet somehow weaker, caricature of his former self. And now he’s not even in the public eye anymore.
It’s anyone’s guess as to what’s going on behind the scenes. It could be a routine illness (the Trump regime has always stupidly tried to cover these things up and made them into bigger scandals). It could be a worsening health problem. He could be suffering from exhaustion, even though he was doing very little work to begin with. Or it could be that his dementia has advanced to the point that his babysitters can’t put him out there right now.
Interestingly enough, Trump’s disappearance comes shortly after he (or more likely one of his babysitters) shared a post suggesting that President Joe Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced by clones. Then yesterday, in the midst of Trump’s increasingly glaring absence, his social media account suddenly become obsessed with the phony story about Biden’s people having used the autopen to run the country on his behalf.
It’s enough to make you wonder if Trump’s people posted that Biden clone nonsense because they knew Trump was about to have to disappear from public view for a stretch (the Trump School of Stupidity says to always accuse your adversary of whatever you yourself are trying to hide). It also makes you wonder if Trump’s people are using the autopen in his cognitive absence, and are trying to project that onto Biden as well.
We’ll get an answer, or at least a partial one, soon enough. Now that the media is starting to make an issue out of Trump’s vanishing act, his people are going to have to try trotting him out in public before the headlines get worse. So we’ll likely get a look at Trump soon. That’ll clue us into why his babysitters have had to spend the week hiding him and running interference for him. Let’s not let them get away with it.
