What the GOP still doesn’t get

Protests—peaceful ones—are one of America’s bedrocks. A way of making one’s voice heard, protests allow the American people to challenge ideas, policies, and, in some cases, a person or two or three. But some people do not like protestors. These people—the ones who loathe protests—are usually the ones being protested against. They see protesters as unhinged dissidents, as people who want to cause chaos, when, in fact, protesters are the ones who want to change the world for the better.

If you’ve ever been to a protest, you know well the emotions that can exist within them: the group dynamics, the positive energy, the fierce love of country. It’s like riding on the backs of the most joyful dolphins—the joy one can feel is incalculable in value.

As you also know, Republicans are being protested everywhere, anytime, all over the place. But on Sunday evening, New York Rep. Mike Lawler, a member of the lawless party—the GOP—own town unraveled swiftly, much like almost every Republican’s before him. Now, Lawler’s town hall came with a lot of rules, which got him mocked bigly online. “Longer than the bill of rights,” some said regarding his conditions for doing this town hall.

It did not go well. Some rules were no shouting, no asking questions except when called on, no questions exceeding thirty seconds (I’m not kidding), no standing, and many more. Nonetheless, it did not go well for Lawler as it doesn’t go well for ANY Republican.

Boos and jeers were all over the place. Some were upset when Lawler started the town hall by demanding his constituents say the Pledge of Allegiance with him. Now, I adore the Pledge of Allegiance. Still, I can understand why angry constituents would mock a man who wants to pledge allegiance to America while supporting a man trying, in fact, to RUIN America.

Only Trump heard about all this. And faster than one could say, temper tantrum incoming; our lunatic was on it. Accusing all the people there of of being radical democrats who secretly infiltrated the town hall, Trump warned that Lawler “should not treat them nicely” and said they needed to be ejected from the room..

So basically, he called for anyone upset to be thrown out. There is a problem with that logic though. The upset people encompass almost everyone.

Trump appears not to realize how despised he’s become. And many of the people at these protests are NOT Democrats. Indeed, in interviews with many who turn up at these town halls, we find Republicans and Independents as well.

If Republicans do start throwing all the people out of the room, they will lose the midterms even more than they are slated to now. . Sounds to me like Trump and his republicans evil little helpers just don’t get that,
