We just finished warning you several hours ago that Matt Gaetz knows his life is destroyed, but he’s going to do everything he can to convince us he’s somehow winning. Sure enough, today he announced his “reelection” campaign, in taunting and cartoonish fashion. That’s hilarious, since he’d have to run his campaign from a prison cell.

The only enjoyment Gaetz still has in his shattered life is trolling everyone on his way down. If you’re cowering to him or yelling “he’s getting away with it all,” you’re playing right into his hands, and he’s laughing at you for being so easily manipulated.

When someone is deservedly being dismantled, and he tries to convince you he’s somehow magically winning instead, your only proper response is to say “nice try” and mock him for how he’s going down. Taking Gaetz’s bait doesn’t make you vigilant. It makes you gullible. And we truly believe you’re all smarter than that.

The DOJ has cut formal cooperation deals with three people close to Gaetz, who have all been given leniency in exchange for giving up Gaetz. This is the textbook for how the DOJ builds criminal cases that win at trial. Gaetz knows he’s going to prison. It’s why he’s acting out in such bizarre fashion.

“But if he’s running for reelection they won’t indict him!” False. That’s not a thing. “But if he gets re-elected they won’t be able to arrest him!” False. Multiple sitting House members have been indicted and arrested in just the past few years. “But Merrick Garland isn’t going to do anything!” Also false. That bit of doomsday hysteria doesn’t become true no matter how many times you hear it repeated.

Too many of you are convinced you’ll only get to feel the maximum outrage if the bad guys get away with it all, so you’re rooting for the bad guys to get away with it all. But I promise you this, outrage addicts: you can win and still feel outrage. You don’t have to root for your own side to lose.
