War…

The cover of the iconic rock album “War” by U2 is one of the most haunting album covers in music history. In the eyes of the boy on that cover, one can see in the imagery in the boy’s eyes, the silent cries, the sadness of a million battles that have been fought in history over religion, over race, over too many things to count.
U2 is a band whose inspiring anthems never fail to call to me. The Palmer Report has brought you the story of Bruce Springsteen’s remarks about Donald Trump. Now, Bono (Beautiful voice )- of U2 is also speaking out. In an interview with Esquire, Bono expressed his disappointment with Trump’s decision regarding ending foreign aid programs.
“The most unbelievable carnage is happening,” Bono said, explaining that the brightest, best people are being thrown in the dumpster.” It’s true, and Bono is correct. ProPublica has an article out in which they say that as a result of Trump’s administration’s callous disregard for its humanitarian commitments, “death, sexual violence, and human trafficking’ are rising.
ProPublica explains that, in these places, violence and chaos are dominant. Since America — or rather DONALD TRUMP abandoned humanitarian efforts, all hell has broken loose. And more and more, and then more again, people are speaking up about it. The link between the abandonment of aid and the rise of mayhem and violence has never been clearer.
Washington Post reports that Marco Rubio vehemently denies these claims. Only Post’s readers do not believe him, as the overwhelming majority of readers think the opposite. Then there is HIV. The Independent has said Trump must reverse all the cuts he and DOGE made to the supplying of HIV drugs or be responsible for a “death sentence” on some of these people.
This is all a stark reality, and there is no denying that these cuts are inhumane and evil. Have you noticed that Trump always cuts, never fixes? To him, these people – their precious lives- do not mean much. But Trump will be seen in history as the destroyer, not the repairer. He destroys lives as easily as one might ask a passer-by for the time.
War is ugly, war is dirty, war is hell. Some wars are not fought with troops. Some wars are fought by cutting off goods and services that are guaranteed to save lives. That is the war we are in now, unfortunately, with our own President.
