We’re a long way away from determining who the 2020 Democratic Party nominee for president will be, as several strong candidates prepare to face off with each other. But it’s become clear that Donald Trump fears Joe Biden more than anyone else on the Democratic side, to the point that Trump went completely off the deep end today – again – after Biden reached his latest campaign kickoff milestone.

Perhaps Donald Trump fears Joe Biden most of all because of Biden’s broad built-in support level, or perhaps it’s merely because the ever narcissistic Trump only takes his fellow older white men seriously. Either way, Biden held his first official rally today, in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania – and he boasted of his 2020 endorsement from the Firefighters Union. That alone was enough to send Trump into a rather strange conniption.

Trump tweeted this morning that “I’ll never get the support of Dues Crazy union leadership, those people who rip-off their membership with ridiculously high dues, medical and other expenses while being paid a fortune.” Then he claimed without evidence that “the members love Trump.” But that was just the beginning of it. He circled back an hour later to rant some more about the “Dues Sucking firefighters leadership,” and hours later he was still at it.

This evening Donald Trump tweeted that “Pittsburgh jobless rate hits lowest point since the early 1970s (maybe even better than that) and Sleepy Joe just had his first rally there. Fact is, every economic aspect of our Country is the best it has ever been!” First of all, it’s not true that “every” economic indicator is the best it’s ever been; for instance, even though the unemployment rate has remained low, the recent jobs report was terrible. Second, the current strength of the economy can be directly attributed to the policies of the Obama administration, and Joe Biden was a part of that.

This comes just days after Joe Biden’s campaign video directly criticized Donald Trump for his “very fine people” remark about the deadly white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, which sent Trump into a tizzy. It’s clear that Biden is going to keep hitting Trump in high profile ways, and that Trump is going to continue obsessing almost solely on Biden, to Trump’s own detriment. Trump seems to have forgotten that Biden is just one of several possible 2020 Democratic nominees in the race.
