Under cover of darkness

Under the cover of night was when it happened. Under the cover of darkness was when they did it. Under dark skies and a mad moon on Sunday night, the GOP House Caucus solemnly reviewed its troops. They had enough troops, enough to advance a bill that would slash funding for the most needy of Americans while giving tax breaks to their wealthy friends.

Slash foo food stamps? One and done. Slash Medicaid? One and done. Slash subsidies for clean energy? One and done. Reports say that approximately 14 million could lose health coverage under this wicked bill. That’s a way to win the midterms! You see, they had to do it, and it had to be done under the cover of night and darkness.

They did it as good American people got ready to sleep, some already sleeping, oblivious to the treachery in Washington, DC. They had to do it to please their twisted hero, Donald J. Trump. They had tried to pass the bill earlier in the week, and failed because some alt-right Republicans felt the bill was not cruel enough.

So undercover of night, they voted to advance along Donald Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” It is not a big, beautiful bill. It is a smoldering carcass that is burning away the rights of the American people, which is, of course, what the wicked want.

However, as the NY Times says, it still isn’t enough for some of them. Some Republicans only went along grudgingly, saying more cuts need to be made. Some didn’t go along at all. The Washington Post says the House caucus worked frantically throughout the weekend to turn this bill into the living, breathing stench of hate it now is. They NEVER work through the weekend, at least not on anything that helps the American people. We must win the midterms, we must, we must, we must. We must neuter their shenanigans done undercover of the night.
