Things are not coming up roses for the GOP. On the contrary, they seem to be surrounded by weeds. This has to do with the National Republican Senatorial Committee which is overseen by Senator Rick Scott of Florida. The committee has found itself in a bit of a pickle.

This is because they can’t seem to stop running misleading commercials and advertisements against Democrats. And complaints are starting to pour about how some of these advertisements are “blatantly misleading.”

Steve Benen (no relation to Steve Bannon) of MSNBC also reported that in a stunning move, local television stations have pulled some of these ads from their stations. This is not only shocking but highly unusual. It just doesn’t usually happen, as Benen was quick to say.

“The vast majority of the time, stations don’t want to be in the business of deciding which commercials are so brazenly dishonest that they’re ultimately unsupportable,” Benen explained.

Apparently, though, some of these ads are so blatantly dishonest that even the local stations could not abide them. One ad was claiming that Senator Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire increased gas prices by 23 percent when in actuality, the gas prices actually went down. Another ad accused North Carolina’s Cheri Beasley of letting “child pron offenders” go free. Also not true. And Benen called these ads a “black eye” for Republicans.

I’d certainly say so. And the black eye is getting a little swollen – because if the GOP has to lie THIS much in a television ad that certainly says so much about their own platform — or lack thereof. The committee has had two ads pulled in three weeks. Will they try to make it three? I wouldn’t if I were them. Because everybody knows the old expression — three strikes, and you’re out.
