Turns out Donald Trump got totally played in his new trade agreements with Canada and Mexico

Two days after implementing massive tariffs that would have crushed the US economy, Donald Trump has promptly caved. First he announced that he was canceling the tariffs against Mexico, in exchange for Mexico putting 10,000 troops on the border. Then he announced he was pausing the tariffs against Canada, in exchange for Canada implementing a $1.3 billion border plan.
This already came across as total weak sauce on Trump’s part: he caved after he saw he was about to crash the US economy. But it turns out it’s even worse than that. A lot worse.
Those 10,000 troops Mexico has agreed to station on the border? They’re already there. They’ve been there for years. And that $1.3 billion that Canada has agreed to invest in the border? Canada already implemented that border package last year.
In other words Donald Trump got literally nothing from Canada or Mexico. He’s just that weak, ineffective, and clueless. Don’t tell me this guy isn’t senile. He doesn’t even know what’s going on. And for all his attempts at strong-arming everyone and everything, he’s as weak as can be.
Trump always tries to get away with whatever he can. But at the first sign of pushback, Trump always caves. It’s just who he is. He’s always been that weak. Now he’s weaker than ever, because he’s too deep into dementia to even understand what he’s trying to negotiate.
This is why I always stress that it’s so important that we emphasize Trump’s weakness. That’s how we undermine him and force him to cave. Trump wants to be seen as strong, which is why he takes such big initial swings. But the minute anyone pushes back, Trump pulls his punches and hides in the corner and tries to think of some new way to make himself look artificially strong.
Our job is to expose Donald Trump as being inept, weak, and embarrassing. That’s what takes away his political muscle. He just caved on his tariffs. Let’s keep pushing back against him and see what else we can get him to cave on.
