Days ago, longtime Trump adviser Peter Navarro announced that a DOJ grand jury has subpoenaed his communications with Donald Trump about the plot to overthrow the 2020 election. This was the latest confirmation that the DOJ is indeed criminally targeting Donald Trump. It also means that Navarro is utterly screwed unless he cuts a cooperation deal against Trump.

Today, Navarro decided to appear live on MSNBC and address the matter. This is generally a risky move when you’re under federal criminal investigation, even if you know what you’re doing and you have a good lawyer. In Navarro’s case he’s a complete idiot, and he’s acting as his own lawyer, so suffice it to say that it didn’t go well for him.

Navarro tried to argue on the air that he’s somehow protected under executive privilege, even though the courts have all definitely shut down that notion. Navarro also threatened vengeance against everyone from congressional Democrats to Dr. Anthony Fauci after the midterms – a dumb thing to do when you’re already under federal criminal investigation. Eventually host Ari Melber blurted out, “You do realize these investigators can hear you when you talk on TV?”

Navarro has melted down like this on MSNBC before about the Trump election overthrow scandal. But this is the first time he’s done so since being subpoenaed by a Department of Justice grand jury. He’s not only risking further incriminating himself for his underlying crimes, but also potentially risking getting nailed for obstruction of justice.

At this point it’s a matter of time before Navarro is criminally indicted. If he refuses to comply with his grand jury subpoena, the DOJ could indict him for obstruction just so he understands he’s going to prison, and might consider the possibility of flipping on Trump. But either way, Navarro is in trouble. And if Trump is relying on whack jobs like Navarro to do his bidding, then Trump is in the most trouble of all. After all, it’s clear the DOJ is going after Navarro to get to Trump.
