Told you Donald Trump was weak

For as long as Donald Trump has been in the political arena, I’ve said that the way to defeat him was to mock him as loudly and relentlessly as possible for all the ways in which he’s weak and vulnerable. Such an approach served multiple purposes: demoralize his supporters, help expose him as an inept weakling in the eyes of swing voters, and get under his skin.

Of course this strategy has never been followed widely enough, which is probably why Trump is still around. Everyone in the Palmer Report community is smart enough to know better, but most others out there are still – a decade later – hyping Trump as being “dangerously powerful” in a way that only serves to make him more powerful.

But now I’m ready to say I told you so. And by “you” I don’t mean any of you reading this. I mean the folks out there I’ve been feuding with for a decade about the correct way to fight back against Trump. Yesterday we got absolute confirmation that mocking Trump for being weak really does 1) make him look bad and 2) goad him into making himself look even worse.

I’m talking about the acronym TACO, which stands for “Trump Always Chickens Out.” It was created by some folks on our side who understand how political strategy works, and it indeed worked. The media ended up asking Trump about it yesterday, and then he proceeded to make an utter fool out of himself.

Trump began ranting about the question in a manner that was both inappropriately angry and at the same time embarrassingly weak. “Now, when I make a deal with them, they’ll say, ‘Oh, he was chicken, he was chicken,'” he said. “That’s so unbelievable,” he said. The only way Trump could have come off as more weak and vulnerable and whiny was if he actually broke down crying and proceeded to pull out the tissues.

Yesterday was all the proof anyone needs that the correct way to fight back against Donald Trump is to relentlessly mock him every day for being weak and vulnerable. All of you have long known it to be true. Perhaps, a decade into this mess, enough others out there will finally figure it out.
