This makes me want to vomit

I use words for a living, but sometimes even I don’t know what to say. This week we’ve seen the Republican Senate cave and approve nearly all of Trump’s remaining cabinet nominees, all of whom are insane. We’ve seen Elon Musk hold an unhinged press conference while standing behind the Oval Office desk, as Trump sat there confused. We’ve seen Musk steal federal funds from the people who need it most. And we’ve seen Trump turn US foreign policy into something the Onion would have had a hard time coming up with.

This all makes me want to vomit. There’s no other way to say it. It’s just sickening. My heart goes out to the vulnerable people, at home and abroad, who are being hit the hardest by this lunacy.

But maybe this is what has to happen in order for the general public to wake up. Dummies voted for Trump because they were convinced he was only going to take resources away from people who somehow didn’t deserve it (translation: people who aren’t white). But now Trump and his henchmen are directly harming the same working class white rural Americans who just finished handing Trump power.

Trump’s tariffs have already caused a spike in inflation, after Biden had gotten inflation under control. Gas prices are rising. Eggs are no longer affordable. Now Medicaid, a program that’s relied upon by a disproportionately large number of Trump supporters, is officially on the chopping block.

This isn’t what these dummies voted for. It’s easy to say that they deserve what Trump is doing to them because they’re the ones who eagerly handed him the power to do this to them. But there’s a larger point here. In order to mount the kind of public pressure that can truly stop Trump and Musk in their tracks, we’re going to need the support of a lot of those dummies in the middle who just got done voting for Trump. No, not Trump’s base. I’m talking about the people in the middle who held their nose and voted for Trump because a dishonest media told them that Biden was senile and that Democrats were bad for the economy.

Like it or not, we need those dummies on our side. If nothing else, Trump’s evil moves this week just might harm and outrage these dummies enough to get them to join us. So maybe all of this had to happen in order for us to get our country back. But it still makes me want to vomit.
