This is not good

America is an incredible, fantastic, mighty, FREE, magnificent country — think of it as a tree. Think of it as a glorious tree, an apple tree, fruit glistening, waving gently as warm and effervescent winds surround it. Now think of one of those apples falling — falling off the tree. And then another. And then another. And then another. That is what is happening with Donald Trump’s tariffs. The world has always been able to trust us. They know us to be a peaceful and fair country with welcoming lands.

But every time Trump alienates a country — as he is alienating places like Mexico, China, and Canada — another apple falls silently from the tree. And it’s making Donald Trump look terrible. Trump’s tariffs go into effect today. Imports from Mexico will now have a 25% tariff. The same with Canada. China’s goods will come with a 10 percent tariff.

These tariffs of course, might — probably will — cause some of our goods to skyrocket in cost. This is not good. We already have egg prices skyrocketing. With these tariffs, cars could cost more. Lumber could cost more. Furniture could cost more. Groceries could cost more.

Trump is said to be mulling over even more tariffs. There will be a cost for those tariffs, which will fall on the American people. Experts say the average household could be forced to dole out an additional $830 dollars yearly.

Economists worry that these tariffs will significantly hurt our economy. Of course, a little thing (sarcasm) like that would not be enough to stop Psychopath Orange. But perhaps he may flinch a bit when he sees the hate, the mockery, and the fury coming from the American people. Republicans certainly have reasons for to fear.

The midterms are just around the corner. We have elected a new DNC Chair. Ken Martin. We are revving up. Republicans are frozen in place as their messiah sets out determinedly to destroy the whole republican brand.

This is the fight of our lives. Donald Trump and his unelected henchmen are actively trying to destroy our government, our democracy, and our way of life. We only have one choice, and that's to fight back as loudly and aggressively as possible.
To that end, Palmer Report is expanding. We're bulking up our editorial and research staff and leaving no stone unturned on the editorial front and activism front.
