This is not good

This is not good – not good at all. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said on Thursday that it is discontinuing its database of ” billion-dollar weather and climate disasters.” This is likely because of the staff reductions. We can blame Elon Musk and DOGE for this.
This database has been most useful because people, including researchers, can track certain costs of these events and disasters, such as tornadoes and tropical storms. But it has become the latest casualty of the Trump and DOGE administration.
This database has existed for decades — since the year 1980. It has been enormously helpful for so many. There is no reason that I can think of for DOGE to want it to end. But this is the type of thing we are dealing with. Because of all the staff cuts, many places have to shuttle or cancel certain services outright. State parks are another area deeply affected by all the cuts.
It does seem does it not that the Trump team doesn’t give much of a damn about anything least of all the weather? On and on they go, spinning webs of indolence and indecency, cutting jobs with flippant waves of their hands, thinking nothing of the deep and deadly costs of what they are doing.
As I look around, gaze at the parks in jeopardy, the climate change research in peril, and now this, it seems we are being introduced to an America that we do not know, that is a stranger, a place that is here to specifically molly-coddle the wants and needs of white Silicon Valley tech billionaires, and bored men who do not care about anything other than making themselves richer.
Perhaps all that money has dulled their brain cells, carved away at their values, leaving nothing there except the jaded boredom of uncaring wanna-be demigods.
