This is just plain evil

I hate something far more than Donald Trump. It is an evil that has existed for centuries, and despite all our technology and innovations, we have not managed to rid ourselves of it yet. That thing is cancer. Cancer kills, cancer destroys. Cancer has permeated the lives of many I love, including family members. Cancer this week claimed the life of Mike Peters.

Mike Peters was the lead singer of one of my favorite bands, The Alarm. They are known for hit songs like “Strength” and “Sixty Eight Guns,” but I consider their best song to be “Spirit of 76.” Peters, at age 66, had fought cancer for decades like so many other people. His fight was successful for many years. Until this week.

And that. my friends, leads me to Trump’s most evil action yet. Jeffrey K. Reynolds, writing for The Hill: “Trump’s cuts to federal heath spending will cause more cancer deaths.”

Reynolds, too, is a cancer survivor. He is, as he says, most eloquently, alive because of cancer research. The Department of Health and Human Services has laid off or will shortly lay off , around 25 percent of the staff. They are reorganizing like every agency DOGE gets its meaty, calloused little hands on.

It is estimated that 20,000 people will lose their jobs. Reynolds estimates grant funding will be cut by 35 percent. He explains this is includes the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There is more — a lot more. It is appalling.

It shows the utter disregard for human life , for innovation done to SAVE the precious lives. They simply do not care. They’re power hungry vicious little men who enjoy sticking it to the American people. Do you think Elon Musk or Donald Trump fall asleep at night, giving one iota of a thought about cancer research? I highly doubt it.

This move ranks among the WORST of the worst for Trump and DOGE. Talk about it. Tell your family and friends. Because research matters. It is the only way we can combat the evil thing called cancer and put a stop to it once and for all.
