This is just embarrassing for Donald Trump
Volodymyr Zelensky is twice the man Donald Trump will ever be, yet he decided to give in to Trump’s blackmail giving the U.S. access to its minerals for the sake of his country. Zelensky flew to the U.S. to finalize that deal. Instead of listening to and working with Zelensky, Trump and Vance were determined to berate Zelensky, starting with Trump’s crack about his attire, which has nothing to do with anything. Zelensky wore military-style clothing, which the New York Times said Zelensky typically wears in solidarity with his soldiers. The first thing Trump said was: “Oh look, you’re all dressed up.” Zelensky ignored his ignorant comment. The story is much longer, but NYT believes the reporters in the room changed things by asking questions that beg to be answered, such as Trump’s alliance with Putin. Once again, Donald Trump revealed just how inept he is at running this country.
In response to the outcome of this meeting, King Charles invited Zelensky to a meeting, which included Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Starmer called a weekend summit of EU leaders. They are showing their solidarity with Ukraine and benevolence toward President Zelensky after he was attacked at the White House. Just like the meme going around Facebook, King Charles and the prime minister stand with Ukraine. Ukraine needs and deserves the support. They were attacked by Russia for no reason other than greed, hate, and control. No wonder Trump thinks Putin is his “friend.” They have the same goals, but Trump must know that Putin is no one’s friend.
The Independent reported that EU leaders see Trump as betraying Western democracy and that they will hear a “blunt message” from Sir Keir about “how they need to move forward without relying on America as a security guarantee.” During the summit, Keir unveiled a new deal for Ukraine’s defense. Several country representatives attended the summit including Italy, France, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Turkey, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Czechia, and Romania. In addition, the Turkish foreign Minister, Nato secretary general, and presidents of the European Commission and European Counsel also planned to attend. While Trump may be claiming “victory” in his America first bullshit, other countries are looking at him like the idiot he is and are banding together for Ukraine.
The U.S. has always been the ally on which other countries could depend. Not anymore. Every day, Trump is making our country more of an embarrassment to the world, and one day, no one will turn to us for help. That also means no one will turn to us if we get in trouble and need support. Trump is breaking down every norm, and this could have serious consequences for the U.S., especially if allies are successful in their Ukraine support. The Independent reported that John Foreman, a former British defense attaché in Moscow, said that Keir “can pull the negotiations back from the brink if he keeps a cool head.” Unlike Donald Trump, Keir has so far done that, as he has spoken with both Trump and Zelensky, and Foreman said: “His general calmness may actually help here.” God knows we could use that here.
