This is HUGE

Writers often write about what they know, offering occasional personal antidotes, so please allow me to offer one of mine. Back in my childhood, I had a hobby that I felt was — rather magical, a dream come to life, a living, breathing process of finding beauty in extraordinary places. I love the beach, as you know. I’d walk the shores, finding rocks in my shore-journeys. I’d take them home with me. My pockets bulged with stones of every size, shape, and color.
And then I’d bring them to life. Rock Polishing was one of my hobbies, you see. You have a kit. You polish the stones, many of which had been lying on beaches since, it seemed, the beginning of eternity. You color them, polish them, mold them, CREATE them, and voila! In just hours, you have — gemstones, richly sparkling with color, pink ones, golden ones, and bright blue ones that come to life like Galatea after the ministrations of Pygmalion.
Now — this process can work in politics, too. How? Well — sometimes in politics, one loses, which can be crushing. SOO — you change your message, polish it up, nurture it, and create a new vivid message that colors the voters in positivity. And before you know it — voila! You have a win! We just did that, and we got one.
New York State Senator-Elect Sam Sutton is a Democratic candidate. And he has—well, he’s won! He scored a huge upset victory in District 22. Now — why is this such big news? Because this district is one that Trump won by 55 points! I repeat: Trump won this district by 55 points! This is HUGE, my friends, just HUGE!
AND Sutton’s victory was not small. He won by nearly a two-to-one margin, showing the world of politics that Donald Trump’s message is corrosive, as is the man behind the toxic message. We’re overperforming.
Republicans are alienating EVERYONE. You have seen it time after time in polls, but these are real, tangible results, and this election is something to celebrate. If we continue — continue in symmetry, continue to polish our message and make it glow, there’s nothing we cannot do.
