This is a threat to national security

Chris Christie told George Stephanopoulos that Donald Trump is endangering national security with his late-night purging of members of the FBI and DOJ. As he explained, Christie had many reasons for feeling that way. One reason is that we canโ€™t afford to lose so many FBII agents now.

Now one might think โ€“ OK, heโ€™s firing all these people. Indeed, they can be replaced quickly, right? Right? Wrong. As someone who has been intimately involved with hiring processes in the past, I canโ€™t tell you how long these processes can take.

Under the best of circumstances, the hiring process could be long. You have job interviews and the reference checks, but working for the FBI, as you know, adds an all-new layer to it, and Christie says we canโ€™t afford to lose that many agents and keep our people protected. Keep them safe.

Furthermore, Christie believes that many of these fired agents will file litigation, which will also, and I agree with him, make the process tougher. People arenโ€™t going to take this lying down.

Of course, much litigation will be filed. This is going to be a mess. Christie said it would be a mess that would exist and be a story for quite some time. This isnโ€™t one of those one-cycle new stories. Itโ€™s going to be with us, unfortunately, for quite a while until this mess gets sorted out
