This again?

While the GOP has Congress – an inevitable truth we may have to deal with until the 2026 midterms, there isn’t much that Democrats can do to obstruct right-wing legislation – particularly when it comes to passing the GOP’s budget that disproportionately hurts everyone who wasn’t able to donate millions of dollars to their political campaigns. There are, however, ways that Democrats can fight back – and make sure that the process of passing this bill is as painful for the GOP as possible – and that’s what they’re doing right now.

As the budget was coming out of committee, Democrats pushed repeatedly for amendments that would give tax cuts to the middle class. It didn’t work – but it forced Republicans who voted overwhelmingly in favor of bringing the bill out of committee to go on record and admit that this bill is absolutely of no help to the people that are only going to be paying more taxes on behalf of the wealthy while also taking hits from Donald Trump’s tariffs.

We’re still early in the process, but the pressure is only going to get worse on House Republicans as they force their constituents to swallow a budget that will only hurt them. Yet again, the GOP has shown exactly why they can never be trusted with power and why they’re incapable of governing. Now, the Democrats have a counter message: that they alone proposed methods to help ordinary people and got no support from the party that’s hanging onto power by a thread.
