Things just got even uglier for Pete Hegseth

Donald Trump is still trying to get Fox News host Pete Hegseth confirmed as Secretary of Defense, and a lot of Republican Senators seem to want to confirm Hegseth. This comes in spite of ongoing allegations of alcoholism and sexual misconduct, which never seems to bother Republicans.

But now things have gotten even uglier. Pete Hegseth’s former sister-in-law now claims that Hegseth’s ex-wife used to have to hide in the closet because Hegseth was so abusive toward her. These very ugly accusations are surely going to make their way into the confirmation hearings. It’s even theoretically possible that someone like the former sister-in-law might be willing to testify against him during the hearings.

We’ll see where all of this goes. The Republican Senate has already rejected Trump’s nomination of Matt Gaetz, but seems intent on rubber stamping some of Trump’s other nominees. Hegseth is anyone’s guess. But this sure keeps getting uglier.
