The train just left the station

“Democrats just had their best week since election day.” – MSNBC. Many, many headlines like that abound. This past weekend’s protests were an unequivocal success. But this article isn’t just about PAST protests; it’s about CURRENT and FUTURE protests. So, come away with me, metaphorically, on the idealism express. The idealism express is the train that never stops running, never stops whizzing down those tracks, picking up activists, and depositing them in ALL fifty states.

“Across the country, it’s the people who are driving the huge energy shift.” The resistance is not just about this past weekend. We are planning more protests. Justice, my dear friends, never sleeps. “Democrats see a growing heartbeat of resistance.” There’s going to be more, my friends. The train is humming, its vibrations attracting vast throngs of people.

The TRAIN has left the station, and it’s an equal-opportunity express—it stops in every city and state, on hot, humid streets, on cool, breezy avenues, as more hop aboard every hour. “Protests from New York to Alaska.” Yep. ALASKA. EVERY. SINGLE STATE. Faces and places came together, creating a blur of activity as the train gets ready, gets set, once again to leave the station in just a few weeks.

APRIL 19TH. Justice and activism, idealism and protests — peaceful, exuberant protests — do not sleep. April 19th is the next one. So soon! Yes, planners are already hard at work. The train is prepping for standing room only. Democratic resistance is breathing fire.

The goal is 3.5 percent of the US. Population. More than 11 MILLION people. Sometimes late at night, anxiety can keep us awake into the twilight hours. Now, what keeps us awake will be the train, that fifty state express that waits (not so quietly) for us. I can close my eyes, and I can hear it, smell it, and inhale it—ACTIVISM — the sights and sounds of unity. Hop aboard.
