The threat from within

The United States of America and its freedoms are the most remarkable experiment that has ever graced this earth. Again—and again—and then again—we have fought for our freedoms, fiercely defending them when the need has arisen. Now we face another type of threat — a threat from within — from an AMERICAN — our own so-called “President.”
Trump’s blood may be American, but his soul never will be.
His soul is the stuff of the primordial caveman, and such wildness belongs to no one except chaos and destruction.
The U.N. Secretary has criticized Trump’s actions, and that matters. It matters a lot.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said Trump’s actions “gravely alarmed” him.
He also warned of “catastrophic consequences.”
“The only path forward,” he explained, “is diplomacy.”
Indeed, many others are saying much the same thing. Trump has few people on his side, and that also matters. As usual, he is pretty much alone.
The United Kingdom also called for negotiation and diplomacy. Italy, too, urged restraint. The European Council urged restraint. My point is, see a pattern here?
This is what will help get us through the blizzard back to sunlight again.
I was a big fan of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia,” and I’d liken this a bit to that book.
The story was about four children discovering a new world, a world coated in ice and snow, at the mercy of the White Witch, who had turned Narnia into a frozen tundra where little joy could be found.
Trump would like to do that to us.
For some — for MANY — It is AMERICA that is THEIR Narnia, America who is the golden country, the country who shines so blindingly bright, it touches many with wonder.
We do not want to see a curse put on us, the curse of white Republican men, Trump and Pete Hegseth and Marco Rubio and JD Vance and all these utterly incompetent, war-hungry, nitwits who would bring fear and fury to our doorsteps.
But the world — most of it — is on the side of diplomacy. That is a good sign, and with all the pushback, I’d like to think that our country won’t be entering a deep freeze anytime soon.
