The real cost of Trumpism

You may have heard about the fantastic new idea of the Trump administration to turn the pain of millions into their own reality show. I mean, we shouldn’t be surprised, should we? The Trumpers have shown that no low is too low for them to go to. So, Homeland Security is vetting a new reality show. This show would feature a group of immigrants battling for American citizenship. Happy viewing!

You know the question that CONSTANTLY swirls in my brain is: how do they sleep at night? What is next? Perhaps NEXT will be a group of people battling not to be thrown off Social Security. Perhaps a show will be launched in the future featuring elderly people competing for the right to stay on their healthcare plans.

The sad part of it all is that SOME people will find this funny — if it happens. I say so because I don’t think it will in fact happen. But even if it doesn’t, the damage will have been done. Allow me to explain. The irreparable harm the trump administration is doing started long before this absurd idea of a reality show.

The bottom line is what the REAL deadly cost of Trumpism is, is not this show. This idea is only a symptom of a far larger problem. We used to be, in distant times, a nation that cared about each other, who didn’t get our rocks off laughing at one another’s pain.

Then the Victor Frankenstein’s came along. They came along determined to end compassion, empathy, and caring about human suffering. See, these Frankenstein’s created the monster, and for once, I do not speak of Trump. I speak of the American people. “Maybe there is a beast. Maybe it’s only us.” – Lord of the Flies

You see, the GOP Frankenstein’s created a million monsters, and they are now called MAGA. The GOP, evil scientists that they are, set out to drive vicious wedges between American people, between factions, between friends, between coworkers, between spouses, parents, and siblings. So people became estranged from each other all over the country.

Cruelty became its own character in our never-ending novel, as it somehow got swallowed up and absorbed into the stream of consciousness of so many of the monsters. Before one knew it, so many were desensitized, were carbon copies of who they once were, only the vital thing inside them, called a conscience, had been taken from them. So this show is just a terrible symptom. It is the true cost of the ramifications of Trumpism at its absolute worst.
